    Pursuant to Section 9(1) ofthe Law Reform Commission ofTanzania Act, 1980 the Commission, acting on the public concern on the anomaly in the law and practice of Exchange Control currently obtained in the country taking into account the proclainled trade liberalisation policy, the Commission made a study ofthe problem with the view of advising the Government on changes, ifany, which could be made in the law as to cure the said anomaly so as to harmonise law and practice ofexchange control. In our investigation all statutory instruments relevant to this problem, in particular the Exchange Control Ordinance, Cap.294 were critically examined. Also officials from various institutions responsible for the administration of the Exchange Control Ordinance, Cap.294 were consulted from both sides of the Union; these institutions were: the Bank of Tanzania Headquarters and its branch in Zanzibar, the Attorney General's Chambers, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, the Treasury, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, the People's Bank ofZanzibar and the Law Review Commission ofZanzibar. In accordance with section 14(1) of the Law Reform Commission ofTanzania Act, 1980, we submit our Report on Exchange Control Ordinance, Cap. 294

    Report on Flow of Justice in Tanznia

    The objective of this study is to examine the status of the flow of justice in the country, identify constraints and put forward recommendations aimed at ensuring that adjudication of cases does not take unduly long time, remand prisons are not congested and that the rule of law is generally strengthened. This study is in line with the Governments’ Vision of Accessible and Timely Justice for all in the new Millennium as enunciated by Hon. H. Bakari Mwapachu, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs who had this to say.

    Report on Statutory system of compesation to victims of crime

    "The Judicial System Review Commission recommended that there be established a statutory system for the compensation of persons bodily injured, or whose property is injured or destroyed in the course of stopping, or helping the Police to stop, the commission or continued perpetration of crime. The commission is invited to study the matter and advise on how the measure may be affected without inviting, or facil:tating undesirable losses to the public purse."
